Encryption

What is Cryptography? Cryptography is the translation of data into a secret code or a code only understandable to the people who made it. Its the most effective way to achieve data security. In order to read an encrypted fiile, you must have access to a key or password that enables you to decrpyt it.

Many types of business's use encryption mainly for coding their information on the internet so it can prevent hackers. The most up to date encryption commercially is the 128 bit encryption.

Two types of encryption are:

  1. Asymmetric encryption(also known as public key encryption) - uses one key to encrypt a message and another to decrypt it
  2. Symmetric - type where the same key is used to encrypt and decrpyt the message
Although asymmetric is more safer to use than symmetric chances are that someone is to forget one of the passwords and then the person is left at a blank and no access to the desired information. The problem with symmetric encryption is if a hacker gets ahold of one the encrypted passwords then he/she knows the decrypting password.

Why need encryption? Protects your information from Hackers and other related types of people. Secures the information you send.
